1Acceptance of terms

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ScholarTasks, a platform that connects Kenyan writers to paid academic writing tasks posted by clients (the "Platform"). By creating an account, claiming a task, or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

2Eligibility

To use ScholarTasks as a writer, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be a resident of Kenya with a valid M-Pesa-registered phone number.
  • Provide accurate information during registration and verification.
  • Have the academic ability to complete the tasks you claim to a professional standard.

ScholarTasks reserves the right to request proof of identity or academic standing, and to refuse or revoke access where eligibility cannot be confirmed.

3Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@scholartasks.co.ke if you suspect unauthorised use of your account. You may not create more than one writer account or transfer your account to another person.

4Claiming & completing tasks

  • Tasks are posted with a subject, academic level, page count or word count, formatting style, and deadline. Read the brief fully before claiming.
  • Once claimed, a task is reserved for you until its deadline. Repeatedly claiming tasks and failing to deliver may result in a claiming limit or suspension.
  • Submitted work is reviewed for quality, originality, and adherence to the brief before approval. ScholarTasks or the client may request revisions within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Missing a deadline without prior communication may result in the task being reassigned and forfeiture of payment for that task.

5Originality & academic integrity

All work submitted through the Platform must be original and produced by you specifically for the task claimed. You agree that you will not:

  • Submit plagiarised content, including work copied from other students, the internet, or generated wholly by AI tools where the brief prohibits it.
  • Resell, redistribute, or reuse a client's brief or submitted work outside the Platform.
  • Misrepresent your qualifications or the originality of your submission.

Submissions may be checked using plagiarism-detection and AI-detection tools. Confirmed violations will result in forfeiture of payment for the affected task and may lead to permanent suspension of your account.

6Payments & payouts

  • Payment amounts are shown on each task before you claim it and are held by ScholarTasks before the task is opened for claiming.
  • Payment is released to your registered M-Pesa number once your submission is reviewed and approved.
  • ScholarTasks does not charge writers a commission on approved task payments unless explicitly stated on the Platform.
  • Rejected or plagiarised submissions are not eligible for payment.
  • You are responsible for any personal tax obligations arising from income earned through the Platform.

7Ownership of submitted work

Upon approval and payment, all intellectual property rights in the submitted work transfer to the client who commissioned it. You retain no right to reuse, republish, or claim authorship of approved work outside the Platform. You warrant that your submission does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.

8Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

  • Contact clients or other users outside the Platform to circumvent fees or task terms.
  • Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Platform's systems.
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other writers, clients, or ScholarTasks staff.
  • Create fraudulent tasks, submissions, or payment claims.

9Suspension & termination

ScholarTasks may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, for violation of these Terms, suspected fraud, repeated missed deadlines, or academic integrity violations. You may close your account at any time by contacting support; any approved but unpaid earnings will be settled to your registered M-Pesa number.

10Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. ScholarTasks does not guarantee a minimum volume or frequency of available tasks. To the fullest extent permitted by Kenyan law, ScholarTasks shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform, including loss of income, task disputes with clients, or service interruptions.

11Disputes & governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform will first be addressed through our support team; unresolved disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.

12Changes to these terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the Platform.
